 About Biorhythm

1.What is Biorythm?

From the day we are born natural rhythms or cycles regulate our lives. There are three of these cycles: Physical, Emotional and Intellectual.

2.The Physical Cycle

The Physical cycle is 23 days long and typically influences physical factors for example: - eye-hand co-ordination, strength, physical endurance and resistance to ailments and disease. Don't undergo surgery on physically critical days, similarly if you are a Doctor, avoid planning operations on physically critical days. Watch out for accidents on critical days and be careful when using dangerous equipment If you are on a physical low, take plenty of rest, get plenty of sleep and take things easy.

3.The Emotional Cycle

The Emotional cycle is 28 days long and typically influences emotional factors for example : - love hate relationships, elation and depression, optimism and pessimism, passion, tenderness etc. When your emotional cycle is high you will have plenty of positive emotional energy, it is a good time to plan tasks like giving a good speech or clinching an important deal. Don't make any critical decisions on emotionally critical days, they could be wrong! When on an emotionally low day, don't pay too much attention to negative feelings, you will find that they will change when on a more positive day.

4.The Intellectual Cycle

The Intellectual cycle is 33 days long and typically influences factors like: - money, reasoning ability, alertness, accuracy, learning ability. When your intellectual cycle is high you will have plenty of positive intellectual energy, it is a good time to plan tasks which require lots of mental ability, quickness, problem solving, programming, taking exams or interviews etc. On intellectually critical days, your mental performance could be brilliant or it could be terrible. Do routine work on days when your cycle is low, do not expect miracle problem solving when you intellectual biorhythm cycle is low.

5.What is the high point , the low point and the critical value?

These cycles start at a middle point when we are born and then go up and down at different rates over our lifetimes.

When any of the cycles are at a high point , things we do that require aspects of that trait are more successful . During these days it is a good time for intensive training in athletics or for any activity requiring physical stamina. Both men and women are prone to cheerfulness, cooperation, and a positive outlook on life. And a person will find it easier to study, write creatively, understand mathematics or pursue any intellectual efforts.

The reverse is true during the low points of a cycle. During these days, persons are aware of a reduced vitality and endurance. In short, you will tire easily on these days. Both men and women are conducive to moodiness and negativism. And capacities are lessened. These are days better spent in review or practice.

When they under go the transition from positive to negative or vice versa, they are said to be critical. It is defined as critical because you are neither up nor down, but in a state of limbo. If physical cycle is at the critical value then people tend to be accident prone. If emotional cycle is at the critical value then possible emotional outbursts. If intellectual cycle is at the critical value it isn't as important, by itself, as the other two cycles, but if it coincides with the other two it has a contributory effect.

6.When and who discovered the theory?

The classical theory originated at the turn of the 19th century, between 1897 and 1902, from observational research.

Dr. Hermann Swoboda (Professor of Psychology, University of Vienna ), who was researching periodic variations in fevers, looked into the possibility of a rhythmic change in mood and health. He collected data on reaction to pain, outbreak of fevers, illnesses, asthma, heart attacks, and recurrent dreams. He concluded that there was a 23-day physical cycle and a 28-day emotional cycle.

Dr. Wilhelm Fliess (nose and throat specialist; reportedly a numerologist) independently was researching the occurrences of fevers, recurrent illnesses and deaths in his patients. He also came to the conclusion that there was a 23 and a 28-day rhythm. Fleiss's theories were of great interest and importance to Sigmund Freud during his early work in developing his psychoanalytic concepts.

Alfred Teltseher (professor of engineering; University of Innsbruck , Austria ) observed that his students' good days and bad days followed a rhythmic pattern of 33 days. Teltscher found that the brain's ability to absorb, mental ability, and alertness ran in 33 day cycles. Dr. Rexford Hersey (psychologist; Pennsylvania , America ) in the 1920s reportedly made contributions to the classical theory also.

These three biorhythms compose the classical theory. The classical theory has been studied, especially in Germany , Japan , and the United States , with conflicting results.

Application:

1.Having a bad day? Feeling unmotivated? But you don't know why? Check your biorhythms!

Many people report that they can improve the quality of their lives by monitoring the highs and lows of these cycles and acting accordingly. For example, you might try to schedule important exams during your intellectual highs, avoid talking to your significant other during your emotional lows, or arranging the lineup of your baseball team around their physical highs.

2.What is the use of the critical day?

The critical day is a state of limbo. If physical cycle is at the critical value then people tend to be accident-prone. If emotional cycle is at the critical value then possible emotion will outbursts. If intellectual cycle is at the critical value it isn't as important, by itself, as the other two cycles, but if it coincides with the other two it has a contributory effect. When it is in the critical day, you tend to do things wrong and be easy to get ill. And it is more dangerous in the double critical day and triple critical day, especially to the driver. So you should make more attention to the critical day in avoiding accident.

FAQ

1.Are biorhythms based on scientific research?

Biorhythms were discovered by two scientists working independently of one another. Dr. Hermann Swoboda, a professor of Psychology at the University of Vienna , and Dr. Wilhelm Fliess, a nose and throat specialist, recognized the existence of biorhythms in the early 1900s. Through extensive scientific research, the doctors reached nearly identical conclusions. Each doctor published his discoveries, establishing biorhythms as an area of scientific study. Today, researchers continue to evaluate biorhythms in hopes of determining how they affect the human condition.

2.What are the three biorhythmic cycles?

Humans have three repeating biorhythmic cycles:

Physical, which lasts for 23 days

Emotional, which lasts for 28 days

Intellectual, which lasts for 33 days

The length of each cycle is the same for everyone. The cycles are based on your birth date, and are tracked in tandem throughout your life. So, you can find out what kind of day you are going to have tomorrow, next week, or in three years!

3.How does the physical cycle affect me?

The physical cycle occurs over 23 days. Throughout those 23 days, the quality of your physical performance will vary, depending on where you are within the cycle.

During the positive phase of the cycle you experience better physical endurance and strength. During the negative phase of this cycle you are more susceptible to fatigue, disease, and coordination problems.

4.How does the emotional cycle affect me?

The emotional cycle governs how you feel about and react to certain situations.
The cycle lasts 28 days. Some researchers also believe that the emotional cycle is responsible for "bio-luck," the concept that you are lucky on some days and unlucky on others.

Generally, any endeavors you undertake will have a better outcome during the positive phase of the emotional cycle. The higher the sine wave, the better the outcome!

5.How does the intellectual cycle affect me?

The intellectual cycle governs judgment, decision-making, and memory. Your intellectual abilities cycle over a 33-day period.

During the positive phase of the cycle, your mind is quite sharp ?almost as if the synapses in your brain are firing faster. During the negative phase of the intellectual cycle, you may find it difficult to recall information, such as phone numbers and names.

6.What is biorythmic cycles and how they work?

Biorythmic cycles start at the day we are born and run for a lifetime. They are triggered by hormones released at birth and your birth date is day one for each of the three cycles. These cycles are independent of environmental cycles such as day and night or the seasons.
